Texas Holdem Basic Rules
For this variation of Poker to be possible there must be at least 6 players at the table. Once there are enough players, the dealer is signaled out by a dealer button and to the left of the dealer lays the small blind and to the left of the small blind lays the big blind. The objective of the game is to win the pots by either making everyone else fold or by obtaining the highest hand.
There are four rounds in Texas Holdem, the pre-fold, fold, turn and river and then the Showdown if necessary. In pre-fold 2 cards are dealt face down to each player and the first bets are placed starting with the person to the left of the big blind and continuing clockwise.
Every player must bet, fold or match before the next round begins. The fold is when 3 community cards are dealt facing up. Betting begins again only now the player to the left of dealer starts and this will continue for the rest of the game going counter clockwise. In the turn round 1 community card is dealt, then the betting.
Then the river round deals the final community card and opens up the final betting round. If only one player is left after everyone has folded, he wins and no cards are shown. If not, there is a showdown and all players must show their best hand using any combination of the seven cards available. The highest hand wins and there is a split if the game is tied.
